Matt Dingle trained as a blacksmith at Hereford College before working for an Exeter based design metalwork company for three years.

He started his own blacksmithing business in 1997 with help from the Prince's Youth Business Trust.

The business expanded in 2001 when it moved to larger premises and was joined by Simon Connett, another blacksmith, whose qualifications include a BA Honours Degree in Design/Art Metalwork.

The company is now based at Escot Country Park and Gardens near Ottery St. Mary in Devon where it now employs two blacksmiths and a secretary, and operates from a traditional working forge using the very latest equipment.

Traditional blacksmithing skills are used in conjunction with modern and contemporary design techniques to produce unique and innovative pieces.

As well as private commissions, many large design commissions are undertaken for items such as gates, railings and sculptures.

The highly skilled and professional staff are able to work to strict deadlines, producing quality ironwork that is predominantly made to order.

Previous work includes the refitting of designer clothes shops in London and Bristol and commissions have been undertaken for high profile clients as far away as Germany.

Among our recent projects were the 'Falmouth Heritage Regeneration Scheme', commissioned by Falmouth Council, signage for a gallery for East Devon District Council,

the making of of 'The Mint Gates' at a prominent listed building in Exeter, commissioned by St Blaise restoration company, and work at Torre Abbey.

We have also undertaken a large contract to design and produce contemporary street furniture for Crediton Town Square, and 30 metres of railing

and a large set of double folding entrance gates for Two Moors School in Tiverton, commissioned by Devon County Council.
